Visiting the Canadian Rocky Mountains with a stay at a remote wilderness lodge is often the most wonderful and relaxing time spent during one’s holiday to Canada. Often uncovering jewels in the wilderness, located in spectacular areas less traveled by other tourists, the right wilderness lodge is more than just another bed to sleep in, it creates an adventure and a special relaxing experience that you can be part of and participate in each day. Although “ eco tourism ” is an over used term these days, at Cross River Cabins you will find the real thing, where we role model and live this self sustainable life each day, maintaining and promoting a minimum “footprint” on the environment from both a physical stand point as well as our usage impact.

Cross River Cabins and Wilderness Center provides a modern, comfortable and safe place to visit while showing a commitment to environmentally friendly and self sustainable practices in our day to day operations and activities. Accepting and demonstrating this responsibility can be shown in various ways including generating power requirements “naturally” with solar panel arrays as well as hydro generation off a mountain stream, natural water pressure for cabin and lodge water requirements being developed via natural gravity, all heating being provided by wood fireplaces using only wind/dead fall trees just to mention a few. The pure simplicity of our facility is amazing, very satisfying and role models true stewardship of the land.

We are a small family owned and operated business which contributes greatly to the facility’s friendly, personalized service and great food. The other guests and friendly staff you meet and interact with will help you enjoy your activities, share common experiences and develop your passions.

Being in the wilderness and visiting remote areas gives you the opportunity to be alone, to see green forests and mountain peaks as far as the eye can see, to hear the sound of wilderness or the sound of silence, to hear a raging river or the trickle of a mountain stream, and to experience a moon and star-lit night or even the excitement of total darkness. Your mind will calm, your pace will slow, expectations in each other will lighten, and your appreciation of life will grow. The stress free environment of being away from crowded tourist areas, provide a feeling of freedom, relaxation and memories that create a great holiday experience.

The main lodge and all cabins are self-sufficient and environmentally friendly, sustaining an eco-sensitive and natural wilderness setting to ensure a unique mountain experience.

Our 8 cabins offer a wilderness experience in a peaceful setting surrounded by beautiful pine trees and wild flowers with a mountain stream trickling close by and a breathtaking view of the beautiful Rocky Mountains defining the Kootenay River Valley below.

All cabins are sparkling clean and have been recently renovated with great care, offering perfect harmony between "the old" and "the new" exuding a warmth and charm that inspires a comfortable and relaxing rest.

Each cabin is tastefully decorated in their own wilderness theme with a wonderful cozy atmosphere, complete with a comfortable queen sized log bed with down comforter, a twin bed, and a sitting area with wood-burning fireplace just waiting to be curled up in front of with your favorite book. Cozy warm interiors
Indoor photo Our cabins include an adjoining modern private three piece washroom with a shower and are equipped with a 12V solar powered lighting system.

Our cabins and main lodge are non-smoking environments, with daily wood delivery for your fireplace.

We have a large outdoor fire pit area for wiener roasts, evening campfires, storytelling or just to sit and star gaze.

Our main lodge building is very spacious, providing a large kitchen, dining area, washrooms, and a common living room area.

The large living room includes vaulted ceilings, mountain views, log framed beams, fireplace, and log furniture.

You can also relax on the large decks and take in the great mountain views or enjoy our wood fired hot tub after an active day on the trail or river.

During the high season all meals are freshly prepared daily by a professional resident chef. You will dine on wonderfully authentic and unique home cooked gourmet meals while enjoying the company of your fellow guests.
